As our country moves into the second phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to prevent the spread of COVID-19, there are many things you can do to keep yourself busy and productive, without leaving the house.
Watch the news and stay connected with your friends and family
Uncertainty around the coronavirus pandemic can worsen your anxiety especially with the spread of fake news. It is very important to watch the news to stay updated with the current issues. Keeping in touch with your friends and family is a good way to seek for joy, comfort and companionship during this difficult time. It is really important to keep the social connections going.
Learn a new skill or a new language
Besides YouTube videos, there are a number of platforms you may visit to learn new skills ranging from diverse learning to practical skills such as Skillshare, CreativeLive, Udemy and more. Picking up a new skill include basic coding, drawing, photography, photo editing, website building, public speaking, and even conversational basics of a new language. It is a good time for you to develop your knowledge base and improve yourself for the better.
Do something that you have always wanted to do
You know what you have always wanted to do but you have made up so many reasons why you can’t do or shouldn’t do. Now, take this opportunity to step forward. You can maybe start your own YouTube Channel, write short stories or even a novel, start a podcast, write a blog and more. Take the first step in faith and let’s embrace the uncertainty of trying something different!
Read and workout at home
It is important to mind your mental health during this MCO period too. You may pick a few of your favourite books to read or work out at home as these can be beneficial for both your body and mind. It is true that reading and exercise makes you feel better. Remember, being on the lockdown does not have to be boring.
Plan your activity or schedule when the MCO is over
Grab this opportunity to sit down and create your own achievable bucket list. It could be a growing list of daily activities, annual goals, etc. Start to look a little more into what you actually want and list down how you are going to achieve it. This helps us to understand what is the greater purpose that we are serving.
Remember, you don’t have to be good at it but to enjoy it! Give yourself permission to have a go, and have fun. Some of these might inspire you and transfer into practical knowledge when this is all over.
