Steamboat or also known as hot pot is a popular way of dining while having a gathering among family and friends. It is served with a flavourful broth inside a large pot where it is brought to boil and left simmering for the duration of the meal.
Raw ingredients, such as thinly sliced meat, leaf vegetables, mushrooms, vermicelli, sliced potatoes, bean products, egg dumplings, tofu, and seafood are placed into the simmering broth and thus cooked. The cooked pieces are dipped into dipping sauces for additional flavour.
Steamboat is usually eaten during big celebrations but with the growth of the restaurants around, we can enjoy it at anytime.
