The inaugural Hin Between Festival arrives this September, carrying the theme of “Time.” It is both a celebration and a reflection—born out of Hin Bus Depot’s decade-long journey and the upcoming 10-year milestone of Hin Market.
From a once-abandoned bus depot to its revival as one of George Town’s most vibrant creative hubs, Hin has stood as a witness to change—of spaces, people, and ideas. Over the years, its walls, market, and community have become part of a living story where art and life meet, evolve, and carry forward. The festival takes this history as its anchor while inviting us to pause, to think about how time shapes our memories, our everyday routines, and the futures we dream of.
Across exhibitions, performances, workshops, and screenings, artists and storytellers from diverse disciplines will interpret time in their own way—through archives of place, intimate rituals, family traditions, community voices, and contemporary concerns. Visitors are invited not only to observe but also to take part, to add their own strokes to the collective canvas of Hin.
Hin Between Festival 2025 is not just about looking back at what has been built but about imagining the stories yet to unfold. It is a reminder that time is both fleeting and infinite, and that every moment—ordinary or extraordinary—adds to the narrative of a place, a people, and a city.
