Story of the Street
Acheen Street Ghaut is the extension of Acheen Street following land reclamation during the late 19th century. Ghaut or stone steps, once let down from water’s edge, allowing cargo to be offloaded from ships.
When the land reclamation (1880-1904) was conducted, it extended the shoreline outwards. Stone steps of the Acheen Street is replaced by a new extended road, called Acheen Street Ghaut.
